Jindal blasts Corps study

Conservative Wunderkind Bobby Jindal publicly attacks the Corps failure to produce anything but delays.

From the Daily Advertiser:

Gov. Bobby Jindal and state Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority Chairman Garret Graves criticized the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for a two-year hurricane protection study that recommends additional studies.

Last week, the Corps issued its draft Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Study which failed to recommend any specific projects to protect and restore Louisiana’s coast.

Jindal and Graves called on the Corps to follow the direction given by Congress after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005 to provide specific project recommendations and designs for protecting and restoring the coast.

“I’m extremely disappointed that the Corps has provided us yet another study,” Jindal said. “This is a complete diversion from the plan Congress directed the Corps of Engineers to write.

“It lacks specifics on projects to actually restore and protect coastal Louisiana,” Jindal said. “We don’t need another study. We need action now so that our people can be safe and property can be protected.”
